Women’s golf plays host to the 2012 Marsh Landing Intercollegiate

The Jacksonville women’s golf team wraps up its regular season by hosting the 2012 Marsh Landing Intercollegiate, starting Monday morning.

The Dolphins will play host to nine other teams, including Atlantic Sun Conference rivals Stetson, USC Upstate and Florida Gulf Coast.  Rounding out the field is Brown, Cincinnati, Cal Poly, Florida Atlantic and Northern Illinois.

JU is coming off three solid outings in a row, defeating Stetson and Princeton in one-day matches combined with a third place finish at the Low Country Intercollegiate.

“We’re excited about hosting this event and are pleased with the field we have this year,” said JU head coach Ashley Prange.  “This is a great event to get us ready for the conference tournament next week.”

Jacksonville is led by the duo of senior Morgan Jackson and freshman Natalie Schmett.  Each Dolphin carded a one-under par, 71, in the matchup against Stetson at Venetian Bay on Thursday.

“Morgan and Natalie both put together a solid round against Stetson and have their game in really good shape for the final two tournaments,” Prange said.

Rounding out the JU lineup is Francesca Yong, Jessica Welch and Carlie Gehlhausen.

The event begins with 36 holes on Monday, starting at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.  The final round will begin on Tuesday morning, as tee times begin at 8 a.m.
