No-hitter garners Sigrest Pitcher of the Week honors
The Atlantic Sun named Jacksonville senior Sarah Sigrest Pitcher of the Week after pitching a no-hitter against Georgia Southern. This marks the second time this season and the fifth time in her career that Sigrest has received the honor.
In her final home start of her illustrious JU career, Sigrest accomplished something she had never done before. She pitched her first career no-hitter and did so in dominating fashion with 12 strikeouts. The Georgia Southern batters were completely fooled the entire night and could never breakthrough for a hit. Only one runner reached base all night and that was no fault of Sigrest as muffed throw at first base prevented the perfect game.
Sigrest sits at 17-10 on the season with a 2.09 ERA. She has an impressive 195 strikeouts in 188.0 innings of work. The Dolphins return to action on Thursday when they travel to Deland, Fl. to finish up regular season play with a doubleheader against Stetson.
