JU men’s basketball player Aloys Cabell was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week to kick off the latest edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.


Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week –Aloys Cabell: Sophomore men’s basketball player Aloys Cabell was named the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week after winning the fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Cabell hit double-digits in scoring to pace the Dolphins against Savannah State and Samford.
Football narrowly misses PFL title - The Dolphins fell short of securing their second straight PFL title with a 23-14 loss to San Diego on Saturday. Despite the loss, the Dolphins finished 7-4 overall and 6-2 mark in conference play. JU’s seniors will leave as the winningest class all-time after securing two PFL title in four years. They also hold a national-best 14-game winning streak at home.
Men’s basketball takes to the road - The Dolphins will be on the road this week starting tonight against Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach at 7 p.m. They finished Friday against nationally-ranked Florida in Gainesville, Fla. at 7 p.m. Last season, the Dolphins downed the Gators for their first win against Florida since 1994.
Women’s hoops battles the ACC - The Dolphins will get a taste of the Atlantic Coast Conference as they travel to the state of North Carolina for the Thanksgiving holiday. JU plays at NC State on Wednesday before taking on Wake Forest on Friday. Last season, the Dolphins defeated Wake Forest at Swisher Gym, 72-66.
