This Week in JU Athletics (Jan. 16-22)
JU women’s basketball player Tracie Sneed was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week to kick off the latest edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week – Tracie Sneed: Junior women’s basketball player Tracie Sneed was named the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week after winning the fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Sneed posted 21 points and 14 boards to help the Dolphins defeat USC Upstate at home. She also had seven rebounds in the ETSU victory two days later.
Men’s hoops plays at home tonight - The Dolphins will start the week tonight with USC Upstate in Swisher Gymnasium at 7 p.m. JU looks to snap its 13-game losing streak before heading back on the road on Saturday to play Kennesaw State.
Women’s hoops takes home success on the road - The Dolphins are back on the road as they play at Mercer on Thursday and finish with Kennesaw State on Saturday. Last week, JU defeated USC Upstate at Swisher Gymnasium before earning its second regular season win all-time against ETSU, 70-44, on Jan. 14. The Dolphins have lost 14 straight on the road, but their last road win came at Mercer
Track & Field starts returns to Gainesville - For the second straight weekend, the Dolphins are back in Gainesville, Fla. to compete in the UF Invitational Sunday. Last week, the Dolphins opened the indoor season with the Jimmy Carnes Invitational. Freshmen Shanique Walker, Courtney Walker and Shadaey Campbell and sophomore LaTonya Payne won the 4x400-meter relay. Senior Stacey Young had top-five finishes in the 55-meter dash and long jump.

Women’s tennis opens season- The Dolphins will kick off the season with consecutive matches at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex. They host FAU on Saturday at 10 a.m. and end with Savannah State the next day at 1 p.m. Four players return from the 2011 squad for head coach Justin Miles.
