This Week in JU Athletics (Jan. 30 - Feb. 5)
JU women’s basketball player Crystal Bell was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week to kick off the latest edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.


Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week – Crystal Bell: Senior women’s basketball player Crystal Bell was named the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week after winning the fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Bell tallied 17 points, 12 rebounds and two assists off the bench at Belmont. Her highlight of the night was hitting eight points in 10 seconds during a Dolphins’ comeback.
Hoops return home - After four road games, the Dolphin basketball teams are finally back at home this week. The women start the week on Thursday against Stetson in Swisher Gymnasium. Both teams host Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday in the Veterans Memorial Arena starting at 1 p.m.
Men’s golf opens season - The Dolphins begin the season today with the third annual SeaBest Invitational on the legendary PLAYERS Stadium Course at the TPC at Sawgrass. Florida enters the tournament as the defending champion.
Tennis hosts home double header - After an exciting ending to the Australia Open over the weekend, fans can get its tennis fix this week at JU. The Dolphins host South Carolina State on Saturday at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex. The women serve at 9 a.m., while the men play at 1 p.m.

Other teams in action - The JU track & field team is back in action on Saturday with the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup in State College, Pa. The men’s lacrosse team hosts Tampa in its final scrimmage on Saturday at D.B. Milne Field.
