This Week in JU Athletics (Feb. 13-19)
JU women’s basketball player Jade Cargill was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week to kick off the latest edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.


Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week – Jade Cargill Sophomore forward Jade Cargill was named the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week by winning the fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Cargill posted consecutive double-doubles to help the Dolphins get road wins at ETSU and USC Upstate. She had 17 points and 13 boards against the Lady Bucs before leading JU with 19 points and 10 rebounds against the Spartans.
Lacrosse invades Downtown Jacksonville - For the second straight year, the Dolphins will take over EverBank Field for the Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic on Sunday. Denver and Ohio State open the day at 2 p.m., while JU hosts Navy in the second contest at 4 p.m. Fans can get tickets at ticketmaster.com.
Track & field goes for Lucky #7- After two weeks of training, the Dolphins will head to Johnson City, Tenn. for the A-Sun Indoor Championships starting Friday. JU has won all six titles since the meet was introduced in 2006. It’s the first meet for JU since breaking two program records at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup in State College, Pa.
Women’s hoops to wear pink Thursday - The Dolphins begin the final three games of the regular season on Thursday against Kennesaw State in Swisher Gymnasium. JU will wear special pink uniforms sponsored by Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute for its annual “Play for Kay Day”. The day is to bring awareness to breast cancer and honor former N.C. State head coach Kay Yow who lost her battle to the disease in 2009.

Other teams in action - The baseball team begins the season at Southern California Friday for a three-game set. The softball and women’s lacrosse teams each have a Wednesday contest at Florida. Both JU tennis teams are at home starting Tuesday.
