This Week in JU Athletics (Jan. 23-29)
JU track & field student-athlete Joane Pierre was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week to kick off the latest edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.


Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week – Joane Pierre: Junior track & field athlete Joane Pierre was named the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week after winning the fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Pierre won the mile for the Dolphins at the UF Invitational with a time of 5:03.48.
Men’s hoops looks to extend streak - The Dolphins are looking to extended their winning streak to three games tonight at Mercer in Macon, Ga. JU ended its rut by defeating USC Upstate in overtime and Kennesaw State on the road last week. The Dolphins will finish the week at Belmont on Saturday for their final trip to the Curb Event Center as A-Sun foes.
Women’s hoops stays on the road - After two tough road contests last week, the Dolphins will do much of the same starting Thursday in Nashville. They play at Lipscomb on Thursday before finishing against Belmont Saturday. Last week, JU snapped its road skid at Mercer, but fell to Kennesaw State two days later.
Men Tennis opens season Saturday - The JU men’s tennis team will get its season started on Saturday at Noon against UCF in Orlando, Fla. The Dolphins return four players from the 2011 squad.

Lacrosse plays in tune-up games - Both JU lacrosse team will be in action with scrimmages this week. The women play at home on Wednesday against Team England at 5:30 p.m. The men are heading to Orlando on Friday to face Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m.
