by Tom LeonardJACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The JU Dolphins (17-32, A-Sun 8-14) defeated the Lipscomb Bisons (18-31, A-Sun 8-14) 6-2 at John Sessions Stadium on Friday night.
The Bison struck first in the top half of the first inning. Following a Dolphin error. Starting pitcher Chris Anderson (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) hit a batter and allowed an RBI single that put the Bisons up 1-0.
The Bisons added another run in the top half of the third inning on two hits and one costly Dolphin error to make it a 2-0 game.
The Dolphins answered with a run in the bottom half of the fourth. Zachary Houck (Orange Park, Fla./Eagles View Academy) led of with a walk. He then stole second. Drew Luther (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton College) then singled to right advancing Houck to third. Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) then lifted and RBI sacrifice fly to left to make it a 2-1 game.
The Dolphins offense kicked in gear in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Aided by five walks and a two Bisons errors the Dolphins pushed across five runs in the inning. The big blow for the Dolphins was a two RBI single by Brady North (Tampa, Fla./Hillsboro CC) that put the Dolphins up to stay by a score of 6-2.
That was all the offense that Anderson and the Dolphins would need. Anderson (7-5) pitched a complete game allowing only six hits while striking out four. Anderson did not allow and earned run on the night lowering his ERA to 2.76.
The Dolphins were led by offensively by Koslowski and North who both finished the night with a pair of RBI’s. Ethan Loosen (Uniondale, N.Y./FSCJ) and Drew Luther (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton College) both finished the night with a single and an RBI for the Dolphins.
