Ziegler to join MLL

Jacksonville University senior defenseman Jake Ziegler was claimed off of waivers by the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse on Wednesday.  He will be eligible to play at the beginning of week seven of the current season.

Ziegler will join the Rattlers, located just 15 miles from his hometown of Webster, New York, after completing a stellar senior season that saw him named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference first team as well as the All-Academic team.  He also became the first player in program history to win a national award as he was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-America team.

A three-year captain who started all 41 games in which he played during his career with the Dolphins, Ziegler this season had 35 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers and was the team’s defensive leader. His 15 caused turnovers led the team in the category.

Ziegler was one of twelve undrafted college seniors that was picked up by MLL teams through the league’s waiver wire process.
