Men’s hoops volunteers at Episcopal Children's Services
A few members of the JU men basketball team exercised their “green” thumbs during lunch Aug. 31 by lending a hand at the Episcopal Children’s Services in town.

Head coach Cliff Warren along with senior Russell Powell, juniors Keith McDougald and Javon Dawson, sophomore Evin Graham and graduate assistant Matthew Daniels spent their lunch hour cleaning the garden and greenhouse so the children can plant new plants. They also helped clear and reorganize the storage shed for the garden.

“We enjoyed giving back to the community,” Warren said. “It’s important to serve our local area any way you can. After our trip overseas, our guys now have better appreciation for serving others and giving back to the community. We look forward to more opportunities like this so we can get out more.”

This service project came on the heels of the Dolphins’ trip to the Dominican Republic from Aug. 12-17. During that time, the Dolphins were able to visit and donate more a 10 bags of items to the children from an orphanage and Sugar Cane Village.

The Dolphins open the 2012-13 season at Georgia Nov. 9, in Athens, Ga.
