Dolphins fall on the road to #28 High Point University

The Jacksonville University men’s soccer team was defeated 3-0 on the road against High Point University Tuesday night.

The Dolphins could not ride the momentum of their 2-2 double overtime tie against UCF as they struggled offensively against the undefeated Panthers.

High Point enjoyed a 30-3 shot advantage including 15-0 in the second half.  JU struggled on offense once again as only Hector Vega and Juan Manuel Arguedas were able to put shot a on goal.

Despite the giant discrepancy in shots and giving up an early goal, the Dolphins stayed in game for quite a while.

The Panthers scored the game’s first goal in the 14th minute when Ryan Bennett headed in a shot from right in front of the goal passed Dolphin keeper Gavin Carlin.

High Point would not strike again until the second half.

In the 53rd minute, Mamadee Nyepon shot one of his 10 shot attempts on the night from only eight yards out past Carlin after holding off two defenders.  His goal put the Panthers up 2-0.

With JU not being able to get off a shot attempt in the second half, High Point was able to add another goal to their lead to bring the final score to 3-0.

Jacksonville (0-6-1, 0-1-0 A-Sun) will return home to the Ashley Sports Complex for its first home game in three matches when they host Georgia Southern on Saturday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m.
