The JU women’s golf team is tied for ninth following the first two rounds of the 35th annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational Sunday at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

Sophomore Jessica Welch paced the Dolphins by shooting a 3-over par 75 to tie for ninth. Sophomore Natalie Schmett is 21st after carding 77 in her first round.

“Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club is a great facility,” JU head coach Jennifer Borocz said. “The golf course is in fantastic condition and the greens are fast and smooth. We shot 315 and were 16 over par as a team on our last 4 holes. We just need to play hard until the ball is in the hole on the 18th green. At our banquet tonight, it was a great pleasure to meet Hall of Famer Pat Bradley and listen to her speak to us about her experiences through college and professional golf.”

Junior Carlie Gehlhausen (t-49th), freshman Christina Paulsen (t-53th) and senior Gaia Olcese (t-58th) rounded out the rest of the group for JU.

Host FIU (297) holds a one-shot lead over Cincinnati following the first day of competition.

The Dolphins continue the tournament Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Fans can follow the action through
