Men’s Golf tied for Sixth after 36 Holes at Pinetree Intercollegiate
The Jacksonville University men’s golf team posted a two-round total of 31-over par 607 to grab a tie for sixth place after day one of the Pinetree Intercollegiate.
JU sophomore Nick Torrance is tied for sixth place on the individual leaderboard at 2-over par 146 (73-73) heading into Tuesday’s final 18 holes at the par-72, 7,108-yard Pinetree Country Club north of Atlanta.
JU senior Jamey Salmon tied for 11th after posting a 4-over par 148 (71-77). Sophomore Brett McKinnon tied for 39th after posting a 10-over par 154 (78-76). Freshman Cyril Suk carded a 15-over par 159 (78-71) for a tie for 57th and senior Trey Douglas rounded out the Dolphin’s scoring with a 17-over par 161 (79-82).
JU, which posted rounds of 300 and 307, will enter the third round 31 shots off the lead of tournament host and Atlantic Sun Conference foe Kennesaw State (571).
Tuesday’s final round is scheduled to get under way at 8:20 a.m. with the Dolphins schedule to start at 8:38 a.m.
The field at this week’s tournament includes 12 teams -- Kennesaw State, Florida Gulf Coast, Gardner-Webb, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Samford, Ball State, South Alabama, Troy and Northern Illinois.
