Bassett named first Sodexo Player of the Week
With three goals and one assist in two games, JU women’s soccer player Kaitlyn Bassett is the inaugural winner of the Sodexo Player of the Week Award after leading her team to a pair of wins.
Bassett, from Littleton, Colo., scored a goal and had an assist in a 2-1 win over East Tennessee State and followed that with a two-goal game in a 4-0 shutout over USC Upstate.
Despite missing eight games with a shoulder injury, Bassett currently is tied for third on the team in scoring with nine points (four goals and one assist) as the team heads to the Atlantic Sun tournament this week.
"We are very glad Kaitlyn is back healthy and playing at the top of her game,'' coach Brian Copham said. "She really is a difference maker and I am excited that she has won the award.''
