Women’s golf opens in sixth after first round of Lady Paladin Invitational

The JU women’s golf team sits in sixth place following the first round of the 41st annual Lady Paladin Invitational Friday at the Furman University Golf Course.

The Dolphins posted a team score of 312 which is only five strokes from the top-five and 15 from the leader Nova Southeastern (297).

Sophomore Jessica Welch paced the Dolphins individually with a 3-over par 75 to finish tied for seventh. Junior Carlie Gehlhausen continued her strong week by shooting a 76 to place 12th following 18 holes.

Junior Francesca Yong (44th), sophomore Natalie Schmett (51st) and senior Gaia Olcese (63rd) rounded out the rest of the JU group.
