JU volleyball player Sammie Strausbaugh has a tremendous freshman season for the Dolphins, so much so she has been named the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year.

Because of her effort, Strausbaugh, is this week’s Sodexo Athlete of the Week.

Strausbaugh, from Dover, Pa., is the first player in program history to earn the honor and was named to the conference All-Freshman team.

She led the Dolphins in kills (360) and service aces (34) in her first season, and was second in digs.
