Soccer teams recognized for work in the classroom
JACKSONVILLE, Fl.—The JU men’s and women’s soccer teams enjoyed success not only on the field but off of it as well as they both received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year.
The women’s team posted an impressive 3.32 team GPA and received the honors for the sixth time in program history including the third consecutive year. The men’s squad received the award for the first time in the team’s history after posting a 3.30 cumulative GPA. In order to qualify for the award, teams must record a team GPA of 3.0 or better.
The Dolphins were one of five Atlantic Sun programs to have both the men’s and women’s teams receive the award and one of just 150 NCAA institutions to achieve the feat. In total nine women’s teams and five men’s teams from the A-Sun made the list.
