Mann, from Hamilton, Ont., Can., is an honorable mention selection. He led the team in scoring last season with 41 points on 19 goals and 22 assists and had 28 ground balls. He also is the school’s all-time scoring leader with 113 points and the career leader in ground balls with 130.
“Cam is very deserving of any honor he gets,’’ coach Guy Van Arsdale said. “He’s the type of player that makes everybody around him better which means he’s not only very skilled but his lacrosse IQ is very high.’’
Van Arsdale said the team also has chosen four seniors as captains and for the fourth year Mann is among them.
“His experience is unprecedented in terms of being able to lead,’’ Van Arsdale said.
Defense Tanner Gard (Winter Springs, Fla.), midfield Dan McNulty (Fairfax, Va.) and attacker Jim Trentini (Fort Washington, Pa.) also have been chosen.
“Tanner has really stepped up as a leading force on defense and has done a great job of bring new players in and helping them feel comfortable,’’ Van Arsdale said. “Dan has blossomed into a strong leader and has the respect of the team and his words carry a lot of weight because of his work ethic. Jimmy is a positive force on our team in every way possible. His approach to the game, his work ethic and his determination to be better and make those around him better are all attributes that make him a strong leader.’’
Van Arsdale says the captaincy isn’t a throw-away job on the team.
“Oh, no,’’ he said. “We went through quite a process and the team chose this. It required a lot of thought by our team and I am extremely happy with the men they chose.’’
