The women’s team tips off at 5 p.m. against former A-Sun rival Troy, while the men will host Wofford at 7:15 p.m.
Fans can watch the Dolphins doubleheader FREE of charge thanks to Sea Best Seafood who is buying out the arena for the third straight season. Parking is also free in Lot Z for the event. Fans will be treated to free JU prizes throughout the games.
“This is our favorite event of the year,” JU marketing director Brian Freshley said. “In this day and age, it costs a lot of money to attend a sporting event so our goal is to provide a quality college athletic event for no charge. We want to make sure we re-introduce JU basketball to the life-long residents, while also creating a new legion of Dolphins’ fans.”
The women will be playing Troy for the 14th time in the series and first since the 2005 season. Wofford is making its second overall trip to Jacksonville in the last three seasons. The Terriers were one of the eight teams at the 2010 NCAA Tournament regional in Jacksonville.
“We are always excited for this event,” JU men’s basketball head coach Cliff Warren said. “Our guys love playing in front of big crowds no matter the arena. Wofford is going to be a tough test, but we are looking for a good turnout to cheer us on.”
“This will be our first game in the arena this year,” JU women’s basketball head coach Jill Dunn said. “We always love playing downtown and hopefully we will make some new JU fans with our style of play. It should be a fun night of basketball.”
