Four teams from the inaugural AVCA Collegiate National Championships will highlight Jacksonville’s field for its Easter Sand Tournament starting March 29 at the Dolphin Beach Volleyball complex.

The Dolphins will compete against Florida State, College of Charleston, UAB and conference rival Stetson in the two-day tourney.

“We are super excited about hosting this tournament on campus,” JU head coach Michelle Collier said. “These schools are some of the top sand volleyball programs in the country and we have been working together to help the development and grow of the sport. We are looking forward to a fun, competitive two days of high level sand volleyball. We hope our students and our community can attend this awesome event.”

JU opens the first day at 10 a.m., with a match against Stetson that will count towards the A-Sun schedule. They will play the Seminoles at 1 p.m. before closing the day against UAB at 3 p.m.

On March 30, the Dolphins will take on the Hatters in another A-Sun match at 8:30 a.m. JU plays College of Charleston at 10 a.m. and wrap the tourney against the Seminoles at 2 p.m.

In 2012, the Dolphins finished fourth at the A-Sun Tournament and posted a duals win against Florida Atlantic during the inaugural campaign. JU returns six players for the inaugural squad.
