JU Men’s Golf in Twelfth After Two Rounds at the Sun Trust Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University men’s golf team is in twelfth place after the first two rounds of the Sun Trust Gator Invitational, being played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the campus of the University of Florida. The team shot a 581 (+21) on the day. JU was in third following the morning round but slipped to twelfth after the completion of round two.

Senior Jamey Salmon (Jacksonville, Fla.) leads the Dolphins with a (68-74) and is trailed by sophomore Brett McKinnon (Grace Bay, Nova Scotia) who fired a  (69-74). Salmon’s 142 has him in twelfth place going into Sunday’s final round. McKinnon finished in a tie for 20th.

Sophomore Nick Torrance (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) fired a (71-75) good for a tie for 36th. Fellow sophomore Colin Monagle (Jacksonville, Fla.) fired a (76 -74) to tie for 61st. The Dolphins scoring was rounded out by senior Christian Vickers (Jacksonville, Fla.) who finished in 75th place with (80-79).

Florida State leads the team competition with a score of 561, nine strokes ahead of UNF and the host Gators. Liberty is fourth at 572 followed by UAB (573), Arkansas (575), Georgia Southern (577), Memphis (578), Mississippi State (580), UCF (580), JU (581), Kennesaw State (588) and Lamar (590).
