Jacksonville, Fla. ---- Following a dominant performance against the Radford Highlanders on Friday night, Chris Anderson (Lino Lakes, Minn.) was named Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the week.

Anderson allowed only one hit over seven innings and struck out 13 batters while holding the Highlanders scoreless.

Anderson finished the 2012 campaign with a 5-4 record and an era of 4.48. He made 16 appearances, including 14 starts on the hill as a sophomore. Anderson led the staff in innings pitched (88.1), strikeouts (69) and complete-games (3). He pitched six or more innings seven times and struck out at least five batters in four of his final seven starts. Anderson’s most dominant game came as he retired 18 of his first 19 hitters to get a complete-game win vs. ETSU.

“We are excited about the progress that Chris has made as a pitcher,” head coach Terry Alexander said. “He has shown an ability to change speeds and keep opposing hitters guessing, this combined with a plus fastball makes him tough to beat.”
