JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Tyler Hooten's aggressive base running in the bottom of the ninth inning was the final piece of the Dolphins' furious comeback.

With the game tied 8-8 in the bottom half of the ninth inning Braddock Rowe (Jacksonville, Fla.) coaxed a walk and was pinch run for by Tyler Hooten (Jacksonville, Fla.). Hooten was nearly picked off as he was caught off the bag but was able to escape disaster by sliding back to first. Following a strike out, Jake Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla.) reached on an error advancing Hooten to second. Both runners then advanced on a wild pitch setting the scene for Scott Schaub (Ocala, Fla.). Schaub lifted a 2-2 pitch to center field, just deep enough for Hooten to tag up from third and slide safely home for the winning run.

The Dolphins once again fell behind early. Starting pitcher Wes Torrez (Naperville, Illinois) allowed six runs in five innings of work to record a no decision. Torrez allowed four runs in the top half of the first inning and two in the second before settling down and keeping the Dolphins within striking distance.

Jeff Tanner (Jacksonville, Fla.) relieved Torrez going 3 1/3 innings allowing only two runs on four hits. Tanner gave way to Adam Maxon (Oviedo, Fla.). Maxon inherited runners at first and second and promptly hit a batter loading the bases. He then coaxed a game tying fielders’ choice before getting the third out on a liner to left to set himself up for his first win of the year.

The Dolphins scored two runs in the bottom half of the first inning when Braddock Rowe (Jacksonville, Fla.) singled scoring Zac Houck (Orange Park, Fla.) and Brady North (Tampa, Fla.).

The Dolphins added a pair of runs in the bottom half of the second inning. Following a Huxtable walk and Schaub single. Both runners advanced on a fine sacrifice bunt by Garrett Ruckle (Jacksonville, Fla.) and then scored on a double by Michael Babb (Jacksonville, Fla.).

The Dolphins were trailing by a score of 7-3 entering the bottom half of the seventh inning when Dylan Dillard (Jacksonville, Fla.) reached safely on a bunt single. Babb followed with a base on balls. One out later Ruckle walked loading the bases. Brady North then lifted a sacrifice fly to left scoring Babb. Rowe then singled through the left side scoring Houck and advancing Drew Luther (Fullerton, Ca.) who pinch ran for Ruckle to second. Ethan Loosen (Uniondale, NY) then followed with a RBI single through the left side.

With one out in the eighth Dillard had an infield single and was followed by Babb who singled to center. Alex McRae (West Allis, Wisc.) pinch-hit and was hit by a pitch loading the bases. Drew Luther then delivered an infield single scoring Dillard from third giving the Dolphins an 8-7 lead. The inning ended when North lined into a double play.

The Dolphins won the series against the Spiders two games to one. The Dolphins will take to the field again on Tuesday at 4p.m. against the College of Charleston from John Sessions Stadium.
