Duo is the first set of Dolphin teammates named to the squad since 2007
MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville freshmen Jarvis Haywood (Charlotte, N.C.) and Kordario Fleming (Memphis, Tenn.) were named to the Atlantic Sun Freshmen team as voted on by the league coaches in an official announcement made by the league office on Tuesday (March 5).
A three-time A-Sun Newcomer of the Week honoree during the season, Haywood averaged 11.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game this season while ranking seventh in the league shooting 76.7 percent from the free throw line. The only true freshmen in the league to average over 10.0 ppg this season, he has been at his best the second half of the season averaging 14.7 points and 5.3 rebounds over the last nine games.
Fleming has also had a strong second half averaging 10.4 ppg and 6.4 rpg over the last nine games of the year. During A-Sun play he averaged 8.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. His 30.0 minutes per game are the most of any A-Sun freshman during league play this year.
The duo is the first set of Dolphin teammates named to the squad since Ben Smith and Lehmon Colbert in 2007.
Haywood and Fleming were joined on the A-Sun Freshmen Team by Lester Wilson (ETSU), Stephen Hurt (Lipscomb) and Beau Beech (North Florida).
