DOLPHINS in 12th place after round one of JMU Eagle Landing Invitational
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Sophomore Natalie Schemtt (Evansville, Ind.) fired a 1-over par 73 to lead Jacksonville University during Friday’s opening round of the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational that is being contested at the par-72, 6,764-yard Eagle Landing Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla.
Schmett’s effort puts her in a tie for 12th place, four strokes behind Ally McDonald of Mississippi State and East Carolina’s F. Gustafsson Spang.
The Dolphins are in 12th place following a 20-over par round of 308, fifteen shots behind Campbell and Elon who lead with a 5-over par total of 293.
Old Dominion (296) is third, followed by James Madison (297), while Kennesaw State and Mississippi State round out the top five.
Sophomore Jessica Welch (Lavonia, Ga.) fired an opening round 2-over par 74 tying her for 17th. Junior Francesca Yong (Malaysia) is among a group of 13 players tied for 21st place after opening with 3-over par 75.
Junior Carlie Gehlhausen (Noblesville, Ind.) and senior Gaia Olcese (Milan, Italy) both struggled with opening round scores of 86 tying them for 90th overall.
The tournament continues with second-round play on Saturday.
