Women’s Lacrosse Looks To Bounce Back Against Marist On Tuesday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville women’s lacrosse team hosts Marist at 12:00 pm on Tuesday looking to bounce back from last week’s loss to No. 6 Duke.
“We have had some good recovery practices after the loss to Duke,” said JU Head Coach Mindy McCord. “It was a tough loss having done a lot of good things and come up short, so we hope to rebound against Marist.”
JU (5-3) held a 24-21 advantage in shots taken against the Blue Devils last week. The Dolphins were unable to capitalize on their opportunities however coming up short in a 10-7 decision that ended a four game winning streak.
“Marist and Winthrop each have strong goal keepers,” said McCord. “After our shooting effort against Duke, we need to face better and better goal keepers and challenge ourselves to get the ball in the net. We are a scoring team and a shooting team and we have to do a better job of finishing. This week is all about that theme for us.
Marist (1-6) is coming off a 10-9 loss to George Mason last Saturday.
“Marist is a team that has been in so many close games this year, although they have not been on the winning end of them we know they will test our defense and our offense and we will need to be focused on them,” McCord said.
With the JU campus on spring break this week, it offers a good time for the Dolphins to concentrate their attention to getting better everyday.
“Team focus is a major theme this week for us,” added McCord. “It’s spring break and we have been improving up to this point in the season. We need a great week of preparation against two opponents in order to keep the momentum going.”
