Dolphins Host Cornell for Doubleheader

UPDATE: Game one is scheduled to begin at 7:40 p.m. after a rain delay

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Fresh off of a series sweep of ETSU, the JU softball team is set to host Cornell for a midweek doubleheader at the JU Softball Complex Wednesday afternoon.  The non-conference matchup is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The Dolphins (19-8, 5-1 A-Sun) are off to their best start in conference play since the 2011 season in which JU went 18-2 in A-Sun play en route to the regular season title, conference tournament title, and NCAA berth.  They enter the matchup having won five out of the last six games all coming in conference play.

Jacksonville outscored ETSU 16-10 over the weekend getting home runs from Sarah Simon (9), Codi Kelly (3), and Karson Tuck (3).

Cornell (8-9) enters the contests having been swept by fellow A-Sun member Stetson in a double header on March 19.

Leading the Big Red on the season is junior pitcher Alyson Onyon with a record of 6-3 and a 2.70 ERA.

The upcoming doubleheader marks the first time the two programs have faced off.
