JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Spring Break week continues for the Jacksonville women’s lacrosse team on Friday as the Dolphins play host to Winthrop at 4:00 pm on D.B. Milne Field.
Jacksonville (6-3) has won five of the last six following a 17-7 victory over Marist on Tuesday. Winthrop (5-4) meanwhile enters Friday’s contest following a 22-8 rout of Kennesaw State last Sunday.
“They have had a week to prepare for us so we know that they will come in ready to play,” said JU Head Coach Mindy McCord. “They have some good players who make their team successful. The style of play they run is well orchestrated by the coaching staff.”
This marks the first year of competition for the Eagles which is competing as a member of the Big South Conference.
“The key for us is to focus on Winthrop and playing our game plan,” siad McCord. “We have a solid plan to execute and we are hoping for another great effort from our team. We think that Wintrhop is a good team in their league so we will not overlook them by any measure.”
“In division I women’s lacrosse, if you do not prepare well you leave yourself vulnerable to teams knocking you off. This is an especially good reason why we have been working very hard this week.”
