PRINCETON, N.J.—JU women’s rowing freshman Julianna Welch has been invited partake in the USRowing Women’s National Team Freshman Camp. She is one of only 18 athletes in the country that have been asked to participate in the prestigious camp.
The camp’s goal is to take elite level athletes with little collegiate experience and expose them to the rigors of being a member of the U.S. National Team. Campers will train 2-3 times a day in a variety of boats while learning the technical and physiological basics that it takes to compete on the highest level.
“This is a great learning opportunity for Julianna,” said JU Director of Rowing Jim Mitchell. “She will get to train with other high level freshmen women from around the country, as well as learn from some great coaches who have had amazing success. I know Julianna is honored and will take full advantage of the opportunity to learn as much as she can.”
The camp is set to take place June 10-16 in Seattle, Wash.
