Dolphins Travel to Kentucky for First Time

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The JU softball team will travel to Northern Kentucky for a three-game series against the Norse for the inaugural meeting between the two programs.

The series opens up with a doubleheader on Saturday scheduled to begin at noon followed by the finale on Sunday set for 11 a.m.

The Dolphins (27-10, 8-3 A-Sun) enter the weekend contests riding a six-game winning streak including taking three games from Mercer last weekend.  The wins have vaulted Jacksonville into second place in the A-Sun standings trailing only USC Upstate (10-1 A-Sun).

Dominant pitching and hitting have fueled the Dolphin wins during the streak.  Leading JU offensively has been junior shortstop Karson Tuck.  During the six wins she has posted a team-leading .600 batting average with 12 hits, two home runs, and nine RBI.

JU’s four pitchers on the roster have all contributed during the wins combining to post a 0.57 ERA and allowing just 24 hits and 3 earned runs in 37.0 innings of work.

The Norse (7-25, 1-11 A-Sun) enter the weekend having lost 13 out of their last 14 games.  They dropped a pair of games to Morehead State on Tuesday in their most recent action.

Leading NKU on the season is junior Dee Dee Davis.  She has posted a team-leading .253 average with 25 hits and 13 RBI.

Sophomore Kelly Benhase has tallied a team-best 5-11 with a 5.38 ERA which ranks second on the team.
