Eight Jacksonville players named to the 12 person Academic All- Conference squad

MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse has laid claim to not only being the best, but also the brightest. Highlighted by Atlantic Sun women’s lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Ali Hoffman (Gambrillis, Md.) the Dolphins had eight players named to the A-Sun Academic All-Conference team which was released on Tuesday (April 23).

The JU representatives make up 75 percent of the 12-person squad which was recognized for their accomplishments on the field along with compiling a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better. The Dolphins finished the first ever A-Sun regular season with an undefeated 4-0 record while outscoring the opposition 83-12.

Joining Hoffman on the team from JU were Ellyn Spangenberg (Chuoulota, Fla.), Holly Ventimiglia (Medford, N.Y.), Karli Tobin (Moorestown, N.J.), Nikki Erdely (Cumming, Ga.), Rachel Hannon (Annapolis, Md.), Jess Hotchkiss (Manlius, N.Y.) and Morgan Derner (Lake Mary, Fla.).

Jacksonville will play host to the A-Sun Tournament this weekend at Southern Oak Stadium starting on Friday at 1:00 pm.
