Ospreys down Dolphins 10-4

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The University of North Florida Ospreys (31-12, 13-4 A-Sun) defeated the JU Dolphins (14-28, 7-10 A-Sun) 10-4 in Atlantic Sun action Saturday afternoon at John Sessions Stadium.

The Ospreys jumped out early on Dolphins starting pitcher Alex McRae (West Allis, Wis./New Berlin Eisenhower) sending eight men to the plate in the first inning. The Ospreys tallied five runs on six hits to jump out to an early 5-0 lead.

The Dolphins answered with a run in the bottom half of the second. Drew Luther (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton College) singled and advanced third on a single by Kris Molter (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny). Jake Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla./Santa Fe College) then lifted a sacrifice fly to left scoring Luther easily from third.

UNF answered back with a run in the top of the fifth to expand the lead to 6-1.

The Dolphins pushed across a run in the bottom half of the fifth. Garrett Ruckel (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton College Prep) reached on an error. One out later Zachary Houck (Orange Park, Fla./Eagles View Academy) singled advancing Ruckel to third. Dylan Dillard (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) then followed with and RBI single to left to make it a 6-2 game.

That is as close as the Dolphins would get. The Ospreys added a pair of runs in the seventh and followed up with two more in the eight.

The Dolphins scored a run in the bottom half of the seventh. Ethan Loosen (Uniondale, N.Y./FSCJ) reached on a one out single. Houck then followed with a single. Dillard walked loading the bases. Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) ripped an RBI single making it 8-3.

The Dolphins added a run in the bottom half of the ninth. Loosen led off with a double. Dillard singled advancing Loosen to third. Loosen then scored on a wild pitch to round out the scoring at 10-4.

Dillard led the Dolphins offensively. Dillard went 3 for 3 on the day with a walk and an RBI while upping his average to .330 on the season.

Alex McRae (3-5) was tagged with the loss after going five innings allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out four.
