DeLuca Named Defensive Player of the Year To Highlight All-MAAC Honors
Dolphins land three first team and two second team selections

EDISON, N.J. – Jacksonville junior goalie Pete DeLuca (Millersville, Pa.) was named the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year to highlight the All-MAAC selections for the Dolphins. DeLuca was joined on the All-MAAC First Team with senior midfielder Cameron Mann (Hamilton, Ontario) and sophomore defender Austin Curtis (Marcy, N.Y.).

Earning second team recognition were sophomore attack Ari Waffle (Manlius, N.Y.) and senior defender Tanner Gard (Winter Springs, Fla.). Joey Pfister (Walkersville, Md.) and Dakota Rohlin (Temecula, Calif.) were named to the all-rookie team while a total of eight Jacksonville student-athletes, including DeLuca and Gard were selected for the all-academic team.

DeLuca, leads the league and is ranked eleventh in the nation in save percentage (.570). He averaged 12.18 saves per game, third best in the league. He was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on March 25 this season. Mann has totaled 14 goals and had 10 assists on the year and enters this weekend’s action tied for 17th among active NCAA players with 68 career assists. Curtis has started all 12 games for the Dolphins defense recording 32 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.

Waffle leads Jacksonville with 28 points recording 18 goals and 10 assists. Gard has 24 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Pfister had 10 caused turnovers on the defensive end while Rohlin was the MAAC Rookie of the Week on March 11 and recorded seven goals and three assists.

Also named to the all-academic squad were: DeLuca (Biology), Gard (Sports Management), senior Dan Jones (Exercise Science  - Media, Pa.), redshirt freshman Brian Kensil (Sports Management - Massapequa, N.Y.), sophomore Quint Miller (Marketing -     Lancaster, Pa.), senior Brendan Niklason (Geography - Falls Church, Va.), sophomore Rob Wertz (    Engineering - Lancaster, Pa.) and junior Dillion Zwiefel (Business - Dallas, Texas)

Jacksonville begins the MAAC Tournament on Friday at 8:00 pm against Siena.
