Dolphins infielder now advances to national ballot

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior infielder Jake Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla.) has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Huxtable is hitting .304 with four doubles and 12 RBI this season and is tied for the team lead with 20 runs scored. Academically, the senior carries a 3.87 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in communications.

This past fall he was one of 22 student-athletes for Jacksonville baseball to record a term GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Huxtable is one of 12 student-athletes earning First Team honors for NCAA Division I District IV. He will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
