Jacksonville’s Season Comes to an End With 11-8 Loss to Siena in MAAC Semis
Dolphins end their fourth year with a program best 8-5 overall record

BUFFALO, N.Y. – A memorable fourth season came to an unfortunate end for the Jacksonville men’s lacrosse team on Friday. The Dolphins finished their fourth year as a program with an 11-8 loss to Siena in the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament at the Demske Sports Complex on the campus of Canisius College.

Senior TJ Kenary (Alpharetta, Ga.) scored all three of his goals in the first half, but it wasn’t enough for the Dolphins to come back from a 4-0 Siena first quarter.

By taking advantage of three man-up opportunities the Saints built up a 6-1 lead with just under six minutes to play in the second quarter. Jacksonville then set off on a 3-1 run over the final three minutes as the deficit was cut to 7-4 at the half. Kenary scored back-to-back to start the come back attempt. Senior Cam Mann (Hamilton, Ontario) then fired one home from the top of the circle with 48 second left in the half to bring the Dolphins back in the game.

The rally continued in the second half as Mann and junior Conor Igoe (Columbus, Ohio) scored one minute apart just past the midway point of the third quarter to bring Jacksonville back to within two. Siena then answered after taking advantage of their fourth man-up opportunity of the game in the final minute of the period.

Two more goals at the start of the fourth quarter by the Saints allowed them to take control of the game. Sophomore Austin Curtis (Manlius, N.Y.) and Igoe would each scored in the final three minutes for the Dolphins to account for the final score.
