Eagles Down Dolphins 4-2
FT. MYERS, Fla.- The Jacksonville University Dolphins (14-31, A-Sun 7-13) and the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (29-16, A-Sun 13-7) faced off in Game two of the three game weekend series at Swanson Stadium.
The Dolphins jumped out early scoring a run in the top half of the third inning. Zachary Houck (Orange Park, Fla./Eagles View Academy) reached on a one out walk. Dylan Dillard (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) followed with a double into the left field corner advancing Houck to third. Houck then scored on and RBI ground out by Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) to put the Dolphins up 1-0.
The lead lasted a half an inning. The Eagles answered with three runs on four consecutive singles and a sacrifice fly to take a 3-1 lead off Dolphin starter Chris Anderson (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial).
The Eagles added a run on pair of walks, a balk and a one out single to stretch the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Dolphins added a run in the top half of the seventh. Scott Schaub (Ocala, Fla./College of Central Florida) reached on a one out double. One out later Michael Babb (Jacksonville, Fla./Bartram Trail) walked. Houck then singled scoring Schaub to cut the lead to 4-2.
That was as close as it would get. Brady North (Tampa, Fla./Hillsboro CC) led the Dolphins offensively going 3 for 4 on the day with a double and two singles.
Anderson (6-5) was tagged with the loss after going six innings allowing four funs on seven hits while striking out two.
