The Bisons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning on two hits. The inning could have been bigger but left fielder Dylan Dillard (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) gunned down a runner at the plate to end the inning.
The Dolphins answered back. Zachary Houck (Orange Park, Fla./Eagles View Academy) led off with single. Drew Luther (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton College) followed with a single to center. Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt. Brady North (Tampa, Fla./Hillsboro CC) then delivered an RBI groundout to tie the score at 1-1.
The Bisons exploded for four runs on three hits in the top half of the fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead. The Bisons were also helped in the inning by a costly Dolphin error and two hit batsmen.
The Dolphins tried to rally in the sixth. Dillard reached on a one out walk. Senior Jake Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla./Santa Fe College) playing in his final game at John Sessions Stadium ripped a two run blast to left field to make it a 5-3.
That was as close as the Dolphins could get. Lipscomb pushed across six runs in the top half of the eighth inning and added an insurance run in the ninth to make it a 12-3 game.
Dolphins starting pitcher Drew Woods (Jacksonville, Fla./Wallace CC) (1-4) was tagged with the loss going 3 2/2 innings allowing five runs (two earned) while striking out one and walking one.
Huxtable who finished the day with three hits and 2 RBI’S led the Dolphins offensively. Braddock Rowe (Jacksonville, Fla./South Georgia College) finished the day with a pair of singles.
