Track Adds Another to Recruiting Class

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The JU track & field team has announced the signing of Katy G Solis out of Estero High School in Estero, Fla.

Solis will join the JU track & field program in the fall as a valuable distance runner.  She finished second at the 2012 3A State Cross Country Championship in a time of 17:58.70, while this spring she ran a personal best of 10:55.17 in the 3200m at the Florida Relays.

"Katy is determined to be successful,” said Dolphin head coach Ron Grigg.  “This determination permeates every aspect of her academic, family and athletic life.  Coach Sommer of Estero has done a great job of nurturing and developing her talent.  We see her as a cross country specialist with excellent potential over the 10k distance on the track.  We are excited for her arrival."

The signing of Solis marks the fourth in the current recruiting class that will look to help continue on the winning tradition of the JU track & field program that has won the last 16 Atlantic Sun track titles.  Fans can view Solis’ personal bests and other statistics by clicking here.
