Dolphins Lead Wire to Wire to Win Semifinal Heat at IRA National Championship

GOLD RIVER, Calif.—The JU men’s rowing Varsity 4 won its semifinal heat Saturday at the 2013 IRA National Championship to advance to Sunday’s finals.

The Varsity 4 of David Waugh (coxswain), Scott Del Vecchio, Scott Waitley, Preston Weinard, and Brian Cosmillo won semifinal heat #4 in a time of 6:42.73 to beat second place Northeastern by over three seconds.  With the victory, the Dolphins advance to the Third Final tomorrow and will face the first second and third boats from semifinals #3 and #4.  JU enters the final having recorded the fastest time out of the six boats in the race. 

The Dolphins are scheduled to race in the Third Final on Sunday at noon against Northeastern, Drexel, Princeton, MIT, and Oregon State.  Fans can watch live by clicking on the live video link.
