Men’s hoops alum Szymon Lukasiak signs pro contract in Poland
Former JU men’s basketball player Syzmon Lukasiak will get to resume his playing career by signing a one-year deal with Nassijo of the Swedish Basketligan division in Poland.

Lukaskiak played in at least 28 games a year during his time at JU from 2007-10. He helped the Dolphins to consecutive A-Sun Championships and NIT berths in his final two seasons. During his senior season in 2009-10, the Dolphins posted 20 wins and upset top-seeded Arizona State in the first round of the NIT.

In the past, he played for the Polish U18 National Team. Nassjo is a newcomer to Swedish top division. They won third place in Basketettan last season.

“We are extremely excited for Szymon,” JU head coach Cliff Warren said. “He is a tireless worker who helped us earn our first A-Sun Championship.”

Lukaskiak is the 12th JU player to play professionally since Warren took over the program in 2005.

The Dolphins open the 2012-13 season at Georgia Nov. 9, in Athens, Ga.
