Walden wins two national awards
Kick returner/corner back Colby Walden has won two more awards, this time on a national level, for his game-winning kick return against Dayton Saturday.

Walden's latest award comes from both The Sports Network and the College Football Performance Awards as National Kick Returner of the Week for both organizations.

For the third consecutive week, JU players were named Pioneer Football League Player of the Week and a second organization has recognized a second Dolphin this week.

Walden and defensive lineman Juan Pimienta have been named based on their play in the team’s 21-17 win at Dayton Saturday.

Walden, a senior from Tampa, Fla., had a tackle-breaking return of a kickoff 85 yards for the winning touchdown with 1:23 to play and won the PFL Special Teams Player of the Week Award.

Walden’s effort was the second kickoff return for a touchdown by JU this season (safety Jordan Dewhirst has the other against Charleston Southern) and the team has taken the national lead in touchdowns by special teams and defense with five this season.

Punt returner Terrance Bryant returned a punt for a touchdown against Charleston Southern and the Dolphins have a pair of interception returns for scores, one by safety Andre Addison against Dayton and by Dewhirst against Charleston Southern.

College Sports Madness named Pimienta, a junior from Apopka, Fla., the PFL Defensive Player of the Week.

Pimienta had two solo tackles, four assists, a sack, a quarterback hit and 1.5 tackles for a loss against Dayton.

The Dolphins have been well represented in Player of the Week this season.

Last week, wide receiver D’Andre Randle won the league’s award on offense and in week two Dewhirst and Bryant won for defense and special teams respectively.
