Bell, Pimienta win PFL top player honors
For the second time this season, a pair of JU football players have won Pioneer Football League honors. Quarterback Kade Bell, from Fleming Island, Fla., is the league’s Offensive Player of the Week and defensive tackle Juan Pimienta, Apopka, Fla., is the Defensive Player of the Week.

Bell was responsible for all five touchdowns in Jacksonville’s 38-17 PFL victory at Morehead State, Saturday. The freshman signal caller completed 16-of-22 passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns. Bell also rushed 16 times for 36 yards and a touchdown. Bell led four scoring drives that went 60-plus yards. It is the third time a PFL quarterback has been responsible for five touchdowns in a single game.

Pimienta had a hand in three turnovers to help lead the JU win.

Those three turnovers led to two Jacksonville touchdowns, including the go-ahead score as it erased an early 14-0 deficit. Pimienta had two quarterback sacks that led to fumbles, one which he recovered and the other was recovered by a teammate. He finished the day with seven tackles (three solo), 3½ tackles for loss, two fumbles forced and two fumbles recovered along with his two sacks.

Tight end Andy Robustelli, who had three touchdown catches from Bell against Morehead State, is theis week’s Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness and all three players earned College Football Performance Award honors.
