The Jacksonville men’s golf team finished 12th at the River Landing Intercollegiate on the par 72 River Course at River Landing.
Liberty University won the team title and Duke's Brinson Paolini claimed individual medalist honors in the event. The Flames finished at 18-under par for the event, shooting 10-under par in the final round.
JU struggled in the final round, with a 25-over par, 313, led by Brett McKinnon’s three-over par 75. McKinnon was the low finisher for the Dolphins, tying for 62nd.
“We didn’t play well against a good field on a good golf course,” said JU head coach Mike Blackburn. “We’ve got one week of preparation before the conference tournament and the guys know they have some work ahead of them.”
With rain splitting the event into 27 holes each day, McKinnon opened with a pair of 77s before his 75 in the final round – which tied the low round of the weekend for the Dolphins.
Jamey Salmon tied for 69th at 16-over par, shooting a pair of 76s before an 80 in the final round. Nick Torrance opened with a 75 and followed with a pair of 79s to finish in 70th at 17-over par.
