Salmon leads after round one of SunTrust Gator Invitational


GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Senior Jamey Salmon (Jacksonville,Fla.) fired a 2-under par 68 to tie for the first round lead at the SunTrust Gator Invitational  on the campus of the University of Florida.

In the first of two rounds held on Saturday, Salmon covered the Bostwick course in 68 strokes (34-34) to tie for the lead.  Teammate Brett McKinnon (Grace Bay, Nova Scotia) fired and opening 69 good enough for a tie for third.

The Dolphins as a team finished the morning round alone in third place. Nick Torrance (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) fired an opening round 71 and Colin Monagle (Jacksonville, Fla.) opened with a 6-over par 76.  Senior Christian Vickers (Jacksonville, Fla.) fired and opening round 80 to round out the Dolphins scoring.
