Dolphins begin fourth season in program history in 2013

Jacksonville men’s lacrosse travels to No. 6 Duke on Sunday for the 2013 season opener. The Dolphins return seven starters from a team that finished tied for second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference a year ago.

“We are ready to jump right into it on Sunday,” said Head Coach Guy Van Arsdale,  “Our coaching staff is pleased with the progress our guys have made this preseason and we are ready to see it transfer to the field.”

JU warmed up for the 2013 campaign with an exhibition win over No. 3 Notre Dame on January 27 and a victory over Tampa in a scrimmage held last Saturday at D.B. Milne Field.  Senior midfielder TJ Kenary (Alpharetta, Ga.) proved to be in mid-season form scoring six of the Dolphins’ 12 goals against Tampa.

“Duke will be a good challenge for us,” added Van Arsdale. “We are looking forward to being able to implement the things we’ve been working on and find out what still needs improving before we hit conference play.”

The Blue Devils open the 2013 season on Saturday vs No. 9 Denver which will be coming to Jacksonville on Feb. 17 as part of the Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic.  Duke finished the 2012 season at 15-5, advancing to the NCAA Semifinals.

The game can been seen live for a fee on the Blue Devil Network.

Next up for JU is a match-up against Ohio State in the Moe's Southwest Grill Classic on Feb. 17 at EverBank Field.  For Ticket information log onto
