Rowing teams wrapping up fall season
Coming off strong performances at last week’s Head of the Hooch regatta, the JU men’s and women’s rowing teams stay in state for the final meet of the fall.

Both teams will tackle the best the state has to offer in the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association regatta in Fellsmere, Fla., this weekend.

The JU men will be in action first as the Dolphins have four boats entered in the Varsity 8 competition on Canal 54 along the Brevard County, Indian River County line.

Ben Hayes, David Waugh, Angelo Santiago and Maycee Dioneda will coxswain in each of the boats.

Following that, the women’s team gets its feet wet with the Varsity 8s and Savannah Rice and Jordan Heylock will be leading each of their boats.

The women’s Novice 4s will see two JU entries as Renee Pharis and Monica Hakun coxswain the event.

Waugh, Hayes, Josh Holt and Dioneda will lead another quartet of JU boats in the men’s Varsity 4 race while Heylock and Rice will do the same on the women’s side.

Final action of the day will come from the Novice division.

The men’s Novice 8 boat will have Santiago at coxswain while Pharis will lead the women’s entry.
