The JU women’s basketball team will embark on its first road trip of the season against Florida Atlantic Sunday at 2 p.m., in Boca Raton, Fla.

This is the first of four road games for the Dolphins (1-1) over the next two weeks. Along with FAU, the Dolphins will also battle against former A-Sun opponent Jacksonville State in this stretch.

“We have been very impressed with FAU on film,” JU head coach Jill Dunn said. “They have a lot of talent and play extremely aggressive on both ends of the floor. It will be a tough matchup but we will be up for the challenge.”

The Dolphins head into the matchup following a 68-54 win against Bethune-Cookman Monday at Swisher Gymnasium. JU shot 54.2 percent (13-24) in the second half and used an 18-2 run to put the game away.

Junior Jade Cargill posted 16 points to lead the JU offense, while seniors Tracie Sneed (13) and Maggie Wilson (11) also finished in double-figures to help the cause.

The Owls host the Dolphins for the home opener after dropping a 71-61 decision to Bethune-Cookman Friday. They won at Georgia Southern, 75-55, to start the season Nov. 11.

Latavia Dempsey and Chenise Miller have each combined for 29 total points through the first two games. Takia Brooks is third in scoring at 10 points a game.

In the all-time series, the Owls hold a 13-3 advantage over the Dolphins. JU broke a nine-game losing streak to FAU with a 78-66 win in the last meeting at Swisher on Nov. 17, 2010.
