Sneed recorded 28 points, the second-highest point total in program history, to lead the Dolphins to a 72-60 win Dec. 16. The total tied Ashley Williams’ 28 points against UMass on Nov. 23, 2007. Sneed’s point total was also the highest since Williams scored 25 against Stetson on Jan. 7, 2008.
The local native tallied highs in field goals made (8) and three-pointers (3), while hitting 9 of 10 free throws. She also added four rebounds and two steals.
“Tracie is very deserving of this honor,” JU head coach Jill Dunn said. “We needed someone to step up and she put the team on her back Sunday. This is the kind of senior play we needed as we move towards the A-Suns schedule.”
With the contest, Sneed has moved into second on the team in scoring with a 10.8 average. She has scored double-digits in seven of the last eight games. Sneed is also first in free-throw percentage (.727) and fourth in steals (8).
Sneed is the second Dolphin this season to earn a conference weekly accolade after freshman Briona Brown was named A-Sun Newcomer of the Week on Nov. 27.
The Dolphins are in action tonight against Troy at 5 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Arena. Admission is free to the game and the men’s contest afterwards as part of the Sixth annual “Free Night” sponsored by Sea Best Seafood.
