Dolphins Host Elon For Midweek Doubleheader

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The JU softball team is set to host the Elon Phoenix for an out of conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at the JU Softball Complex.

The Dolphins (21-10, 5-3 A-Sun) enter the games having been swept by USC Upstate in a rain shortened series over the weekend.  In the two games played, JU was outscored 19-9.  The Dolphins had previous won seven out of its last games including six in a row before faltering over the weekend. 

Elon (11-15, 1-5 SoCon) comes into the contests having dropped four in a row with all the losses coming in a tournament hosted by Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla. 

Leading the Dolphins offensively this season has been senior catcher Sarah Simon.  She has posted a team best .393 average with 11 home runs and 27 RBI.  Her 11 home runs have already eclipsed her JU single season record of 10 set back in 2011. 

The Phoenix are led by senior outfielder Tomeka Watson.  She has posted an impressive 13 home runs and 26 RBI.
