Strausbaugh recorded 50 kills, 29 digs and 12 aces in three JU wins to earn her second A-Sun honor in the last three weeks with. The Dover, Pa, native had all but one of her aces in five-set wins against USC Upstate and East Tennessee State to punch JU’s ticket to Nashville for the first time since 2009.
“This is another very deserving award for Sammie,” JU head coach Michelle Collier said. “It reflects on the hard work our team put in this last week. We are very happy and proud of her accomplishments.”
Strausbaugh opened the week with 13 kills in the win at Bethune-Cookman. She tallied 20 kills, 13 digs and six aces against the Spartans before finishing the week with 16 kills and five aces vs. ETSU. Three of her five aces came helped claim JU’s final points for the win in the fifth set.
Strausbaugh ended the season with double-digit kill in eight of her final 10 matches.
The Dolphins enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 seed North Florida Thursday in Nashville at 8:30 p.m. Fans can follow the live links on JUDolphins.com.
